Why do we find it so hard to love others when we're told that God loves us no matter what?
It's a question that often pops up when we think about relationships and the hurt we sometimes carry with us for
long time. Personally, I struggle with forgiving people who've hurt me. People say I'm good at holding grudges—if you know, you know.
But despite all that, I find comfort in the love that's still there for me. It's in the hugs from my parents, the laughs with my friends, and the feeling that someone's watching out for me. Even though I'm not perfect, I'm still surrounded by love.
I would like to share one of my favourite verses about love in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
“Love is patient; love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others; it is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
Love is a powerful thing. It can heal wounds, bring people together, and make life brighter. Even when it's tough, I think we all have a bit of love to give, especially to our friends and family—even when they annoy us.”
According to the scripture, love is selfless, patient, and kind. It underlines that love doesn't want to harm other people and isn't about boasting or being envious. Love, on the other hand, consists of being joyful when wonderful things happen and supporting someone unconditionally. It also emphasises how strong love is and how it can improve lives by healing and uniting people. The verse implies that we may all exhibit love even in trying times, especially to our friends and family, even if they may annoy us.
God created humanity out of love and desires a reciprocal, loving relationship with people. It is best illustrated by God's selfless and selfless love for people, which He showed by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to make up for everyone's sins.
We are required to love God and one another, and this love from above provides an example of how to do so.
According to me, the understanding of love is based on selflessness, humility, forgiveness, and an invincible commitment to the well-being of others, expressing the limitless and unwavering love of God.
Remember, God's love is always there for us, no matter what.
So, whenever you feel unloved or ignored, just remember that there's someone out there who cares about you.
Let's try to forgive, love each other, and take each day as it comes, and let's never forget that we're all special and loved, no matter what.
